SEATTLE - While most people were sleeping early Saturday, some night owl shoppers were busy purchasing holiday gifts at the Macy's at Northgate Mall. For the first time on the west coast Macy's opened its stores for a continous 48 hours this weekend.
"I love it," said early bird shopper Diane Hart-Hamilton. "The store is empty, my voice actually echoes inside it, I was able to get my stuff and go!"
"We've never done anything like this before, Macy's approached us a few months ago, and told us their idea," said Northgate Mall General Manager Steve Heim
Other Northgate Mall stores are following its usual holiday schedule, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. But check specific stores, because some will have earlier and later hours.
According to one survey, at least 40% of Americans still have some holiday shopping to finish.
"I'm a last minute shopper, always have been, I'm ready to brave the crowds and get it done!" said Dan Wheeler.
So will thousands of others who also waited until the last minute.
