SEATTLE - Seattle Center said they were prepared for the thousands of guests expected to ring in the New Year at the Needle.
"We at Seattle Center expect anywhere from 30,000 to 50,000 people," said Deborah Daoust, Seattle Center's Director of Communications.
There's a sold out party at the top of the Needle known as the Sky City Soiree. On the ground floor outside, admission is free, music is loud, and the beverages are flowing.
"We put a little extra force on the ground just to make sure everybody has an enjoyable and safe time," said Daoust.
Police officers and firefighters team with Seattle Center staff for the big event.
At 11:30 p.m., some roads around Seattle Center close as a safety precaution for the big party and fireworks.
