SEATTLE – The Seattle City Council will consider an ordinance to prevent discrimination against breastfeeding mothers.

The city's Office of Women’s Rights reports many complaints from nursing mothers about discrimination in the workplace, stores, restaurants and public areas.

Seattle City Council Member Bruce Harrell will introduce the proposal next week.

Under President Obama’s new health care law, employers are required to allow nursing mothers to take unpaid breaks to nurse or pump milk.
