SEATTLE --  Several Seattle city streets will be closed to clear the way for tower cranes.

The Seattle Department of Transportation reports the streets will be shut down so work crews can install or remove cranes this weekend.

"It is always easier to put them up because there's no building in the way," said Dave Weber, president of Northwest Tower Crane.

Weber’s company will be removing a crane in downtown Saturday.  Southbound Elliott Avenue will be reduced to one lane between Battery and Bell Streets from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

"Just take it apart piece by piece basic reversal the way you put it up," said Weber.

A section of Boren Avenue North near Republican and Harrison remained closed Friday while crews install a crane. The street is expected to reopen Saturday morning.

On Saturday, crews will also be dismantling a crane on Dexter Avenue North between Valley Street and Aloha. The street will be closed from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m.
