A Fourth of July fireworks show in Seattle is not dead, at least not if the mayor has anything to say about it.

Mayor Mike McGinn’s office released a statement Tuesday that he is working with Seafair and the Seattle Chamber of Commerce for a “new and sustainable plan” for July 4th fireworks, starting with a show this year.

No other details, including a location for the fireworks, were announced.

One Reel, the organizer of the Family 4th at Lake Union fireworks show, announced last week it was cancelling the event, saying it was nearly a half-million dollars short of raising enough money for the show.
