A Seattle Police motorcycle officer was taken to Harborview after a collision with a vehicle at 4th Avenue South and South Lander Street.

According to police, the car struck the motorcycle while making a u-turn because the railroad crossings were down.

A witness at the scene used the injured officer's radio to call for help. SPD said his quick thinking help emergency responders arrive quickly.

The 57-year-old cop had serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and is in stable condition following the crash.

Traffic Collision officers are investigating.
