Washington state transportation officials will hold three public hearings next week on a proposal to begin tolling on Interstate 90.

WSDOT wants to add electronic tolls on I-90 between Seattle and Bellevue to generate revenue for the new SR-520 bridge.

The tolls would be operated through the state's 'Good To Go' system.

The public hearings will begin Tuesday, January 29, at the Mercer Island Community Center.

There will also be public hearings on Wednesday, January 30, at Bellevue City Hall and Thursday, January 31, at the Yesler Community Center in Seattle.

All three meetings will run from 4 to 7 pm.

After an environmental assessment is complete, legislative authorization for I-90 tolling could take place as soon as 2014.
