SEATTLE -- For the fourth year in a row, Karla Johnson and friends spent part of their Easter weekend plotting a candy delivery that probably makes the Easter Bunny scratch his head.
First, they gathered in a living room Friday night to stick skewers in 900 marshmallow Peeps, most of them purchased during post-Easter sales last year.
Then, in the cover of night, they drove to a friend's yard and quietly stuck all 900 Peeps into the ground, leaving behind a colorful surprise.
When that friend, Wendy Law, woke up Saturday morning and peeped out her window, she was not completely surprised.
"I knew it was only a matter of time before they got us," Law said with a smile.
Johnson and company left behind a handmade sign that read, "Happy Easter from your Peeps."
In the future, they hope to turn their tradition into a fundraiser, raising money with every Peep used in their annual prank.
