Two people -- a 16-year-old female and a 19-year-old male -- were transported to a hospital Tuesday afternoon after they were tackled by an unidentified man in Green Lake Park, Seattle Police said.
When responding officers attempted to contact the suspect he threw his sleeping bag at them and ran away. The suspect then jumped into Green Lake and swam out to the center of the lake, SPD said.
Police were seen talking with the man for nearly an hour. The man swam to a small island located on the lake and repeatedly evaded police. But the man was taken into custody shortly before 6 p.m., according to KING 5's crew on the scene.
The male victim, Daniel Gonzalez, said he was listening to music and was completely surprised when the man tackled him. Gonzalez suffered a broken finger and a split lip in the attack.
No additional information was provided on the condition of the girl.
