SEATTLE -- A ferry crew took quick action to help rescue a man who fell off his boat before it crashed near Seattle's Elliott Bay Marina Monday.
The Washington state ferry Wenatchee crew launched their small boat after hearing the man, who called for help on his handheld marine radio.
Seattle Fire Department and Coast Guard crews also raced to the scene and pulled the man out of the water.
The 39-foot boat reportedly had been moving when its owner fell off the vessel. It hit the marina's breakwater and started sinking. The boat owner had been wearing a life jacket.
He showed signs of mild hypothermia. Fire Department spokesman Kyle Moore said the man was able to walk away.
