SEATTLE -- Seattle police said one man has died after a fishing boat and a yacht collided in Shilshole Bay in Ballard.

Around 4:15 p.m. on Friday, Joe and Myrna Antonich were on their sailboat when they heard the call to the U.S. Coast Guard over the radio.

"At first there was two people in the water," recalled Joe Antonich.

Antonich and his wife tried to get closer to help, but help had already arrived. Two men were on the fishing boat. One man, in his 70s, died. A second man, also in his 70s, was transported to Harborview Medical Center. He was listed in stable condition and expected to be okay.

As the dented fishing boat was towed to shore, the sadness set in for onlookers.

"It has to have affected so many people. Accidents happen, and it can be deadly. It is just very sad," said Myrna Antonich.

An investigation into the accident ongoing.
