Seattle natives Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are the first duo to send their first two singles to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
"Can't Hold Us," featuring Seattleite Ray Dalton, moved from No. 2 to the top spot this week. The earlier No. 1, "Thrift Shop," topped the chart for six weeks, although not consecutively.
The last Seattle artist to reach No. 1 was Sir Mix-a-Lot with "Baby Got Back" in 1992, the Seattle P-I reports.
"Thrift Shop" is the most successful track off "The Heist," the first studio album from Macklemore and Lewis, which debuted at No. 1 on iTunes when it was released last October. The video on YouTube has more than 290 million views on YouTube. "Can't Hold Us" has more than 20 million views.
