Lightning struck a Seattle church on Saturday afternoon, leaving a 2-by-4-foot hole above the alter.
People were inside the Bethany Community Church in the 1100 block of N. 80th St. in the Green Lake neighborhood but nobody was hurt.
Anson Allseit was biking nearby and saw the lightning strike.
"I've never seen lightning like that in Seattle," he said. "It shook the ground."
"It was surprising to me," said Chris Mason, whose husband years ago worked in the church office below the area that was hit by the strike.
"God's powerful and can do amazing things!" she said.
There was no fire but firefighters were checking to make sure there were no hot spots.
The power was knocked out.
