Today, KEXP is celebrating the University District's victory in the station’s annual Hood to Hood Challenge.
The festivities, which include an all-day broadcast, music curation by KEXP DJs, discounts at local businesses, and KEXP’s Community Partnerships Benefit at Cafe Racer, began at 6 a.m. in the University of Washington’s Red Square and ends at 6 p.m.
The 12-hour live broadcast in Red Square, which is part of the UW’s Husky Fest, features six live performances and DJ sets from John Richards, Cheryl Waters and Kevin Cole. The broadcast is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome.
Celebrations will continue into the evening with a benefit dinner at Café Racer and a number of other events at other U-District venues.
Throughout the day, more than a dozen U-District businesses will offer special discounts for KEXP card-carrying donors.
