Seattle Police will provide an update Monday on the criminal investigation into violent protesters who overshadowed last week's May Day demonstrations.

Detectives plan to hold a news conference at 1:00 p.m. Monday.

Last week, Seattle Police Chief John Diaz announced the creation of a joint task force designed to identify individuals who vandalized downtown Seattle businesses and cars.

Eight suspects have been arrested so far for charges ranging from misdemeanors to felonies. A Vermont man faces a federal charge of destruction of government property for allegedly bashing windows at the Federal Courthouse. A number of weapons were also seized from protesters.
