SEATTLE – The U.S. Navy Blue Angels are back in town this week for their annual Seafair show over Lake Washington.
As always, that means drivers who usually take the Interstate 90 floating bridge may need make other plans. For the safety of drivers and the pilots, the bridge will be closed for Blue Angels practices and performances.
The closures include all mainline lanes from I-5 in Seattle to Island Crest Way on Mercer Island, as well as the entire length of the express lanes. No pedestrians or bicycles will be allowed on the bridge up to 30 minutes before the closure times. Sign up for traffic text alerts
Friday – Sunday: 12:45 p.m. – 2:40 p.m.
Drivers who want to take I-90 across Lake Washington are urged to take it at least one hour before the closures. No stopping or parking will be allowed during the practices and shows.
All I-90 bus service across Lake Washington will be rerouted to the State Route 520 Bridge.
Seward Park will be closed for all the practices and performances. The park closures will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday through Sunday. The park will re-open after 2:30 p.m.
For those wanting to enjoy the Seafair festivities without driving, Metro Transit will provide free shuttles between the Othello Light Rail Station and the hydroplane course on Lake Washington. The shuttles run from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. More information can be found by clicking here.
