Patches Pals answered the call and helped raise the $4,600 needed to pay the balance of the bill to McCaw Hall for "A Celebration of J.P. Patches."

Hundreds of Patches Pals attended the event for Chris Wedes/J.P. Patches a couple of weeks ago. Many more watched live streaming of the event.

Wedes passed away July 22 after a long illness.

While the McCaw space was donated and many people donated money; there was still a bill that needed to be paid.  So they reached out to Patches Pals to help them “retire a lil' debt."

One of the event's organizers, Feliks Banel, said Patches Pals donated enough money to cover the bill well in advance of the deadline.

"It's no surprise to me that so many who loved Chris/J.P. came through in his memory (and in the spirit of community he represented) for one last really big time," said Banel.  "And, I like to think this unselfish demonstration shows that, as Pat Cashman said at the event, Chris Wedes may have passed away, but J.P. Patches really will live forever."

At the celebration for Chris/J.P., Caspar Babypants (a.k.a. Chris Ballew of the Presidents of the United States of America) performed a tribute song to J.P.

That song, “Take Me to the City Dump,” is now featured in a YouTube video (below) produced by Joshua Trujillo and Casey McNerthney of seattlepi.com.
