SEATTLE -- The end of the Alaskan Way Viaduct closure did not mean the end for drivers who like to use the bus only lane on the West Seattle Bridge.

Seattle police say they caught eight drivers using the lane illegally Wednesday during a patrol by the Aggressive Driver Response Team.

During last month’s closure of the viaduct, police ticketed 99 people over five days for using the bus only lane as traffic on the bridge backed up.

Police on Wednesday also caught numerous speeders, including one going 76 mph in the 45 mph zone on the west end of the bridge. They also caught 10 school zone speeders around Roxhill Elementary, Holy Family Elementary and Our Lady of Guadalupe Elementary.

Oh well, Seattle drivers are awful anyways. Rude, and aggressive, if someone else breaks the rules of the road, they are the first to complain and get angry, but the first ones to break the rules of the road themselves. Oddballs.

At least they are out there trying to enforce the law. What we really need in addition to enforcement is sitffer fines. Example...drive in the bus only lane? 1st offense $ 500.00 second offense take your car for 90 days and a fine of 2,000 dollars. Now we are talking and then you will see results.

Driver's have been abusing that lane since it was created. Personally, I'm glad to see the added enforcement, it has been a long time in coming.
