Construction and special events during one of the last weekends of summer activities will affect traffic around the Puget Sound this weekend.

Here's a breakdown of traffic impacts in the next few days.

Friday, August 23

Construction

  • Lane closures on the SR 520 bridge Friday night
  • Ramp from northbound I-5 to West Seattle Bridge/Upper South Spokane Street Viaduct closed
  • Boren Avenue South and westbound South Jackson Street will be closed during work in the 14th/Rainier/Jackson/Boren intersection

Events

Saturday, August 24

Construction

  • Ramp from northbound I-5 to West Seattle Bridge/Upper South Spokane Street Viaduct closed
  • Boren Avenue South and westbound South Jackson Street will be closed during work in the 14th/Rainier/Jackson/Boren intersection
  • Lane closures on the Aurora Bridge on Saturday morning

Events

  • 6:30 - 11 a.m. Seattle Marathon 10k Race starting and ending at Gas Works Park; there will be street and lane closures in the Wallingford, Fremont and Ballard neighborhoods, and heavy parking on streets surrounding Gas Works Park
  • 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tibet Fest at Armory Main Floor; expect heavier traffic on Broad Street
  • 6:10 p.m. Seattle Mariners vs. LA Angels at Safeco Field; expect congestion in the surrounding area before and after the game

Sunday, August 25

Construction

  • Ramp from northbound I-5 to West Seattle Bridge/Upper South Spokane Street Viaduct closed
  • Boren Avenue South and westbound South Jackson Street will be closed during work in the 14th/Rainier/Jackson/Boren intersection
  • Lane closures on the Aurora Bridge Sunday morning

  • 9 - 11 a.m. Alki Beach Run starting at Alki Avenue Southwest and 60th Avenue Southwest; Alki Avenue Southwest will be closed 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. from 63rd Avenue Southwest to Harbor Avenue
  • 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Melrose Market Street Fair at Melrose Avenue between East Pike and East Pine; Melrose Avenue will be closed 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. between East Pike and East Pine streets
  • 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tibet Fest at Armory Main Floor; expect heavier traffic on Broad Street
  •  11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Kawabe Summer Fest on 18th Avenue and on South Washington Street; 18th Avenue will be closed between South Main and South Washington streets, and South Washington will be closed between 17th and 18th Avenue South
  • 12 p.m. SlutWalk Seattle 2013 at Occidental and Westlake parks; there will be rolling slowdown of traffic along the march route
  • 1:10 p.m. Seattle Mariners vs. LA Angels at Safeco Field; expect congestion in surrounding area before and after the game
  • 6 - 11:15 p.m. Seattle Opera performs Wagner's Ring Cycle III at McCaw Hall; traffic may be heavier before and after the performance on Mercer Street and Fifth Avenue
  • 7 - 8:45 p.m. Seattle Sounders vs. Portland Timbers at CenturyLink Field; expect heavy traffic in the surrounding area before and after the match
