Woodland Park Zoo's four Asian small-clawed otter pups are ready for the spotlight.
The quadruplets were born June 11 to 8-year-old father Guntur and 4-year-old mother Teratai, the first offspring between the pair. The pups currently weigh between 1½ to 2 pounds each.

The new family has been living off view in the otter den at the Bamboo Forest Reserve exhibit because otter parents, and any older siblings, play an active role in raising young pups.
Since last month, the parents have been teaching the pups to swim in a small, shallow tub in the off-view enclosure. According to animal management staff, the pups are showing increased mobility outdoors and diving a few inches deep in the smaller pools. While they are swimming around the entire pool, the parents always accompany them, keeping a close eye on their young.
Public viewing hours for the pups at the Woodland Park Zoo are 10:00-11:45 a.m. and noon-3:30 p.m. daily. Visit the Woodland Park Zoo blog for a peek at a swim lesson.
