Two suspected car thieves crashed a car into an office building at a Renton apartment complex early Thursday.

Both suspects tried to run from police after the crash, but were soon arrested. Both have been booked in the King County Jail for eluding police.

A neighbor first alerted deputies to the male and female suspect when they were spotted allegedly stripping a vehicle for parts outside a house in the 26300 block of Southeast 242nd Street in Maple Valley, said King County Sheriffs Office spokeswoman Cindi West.

When officers arrived, the car sped away.

Following a 12-mile chase chase, the car launched off of a three-foot concrete wall and crashed into the office of the Riviera Apartments, located at 2201 Southeast Maple Valley Highway.

Prior to the crash, deputies said the female suspect bailed out of the car.

The male suspect ran from the crash scene and into the Cedar River. Surrounded by K-9's, the suspect surrendered, deputies said.

The building sustained significant damage.
