Two parents in Renton who are planning their daughter’s funeral want to pass along a message: stop the violence. Lonnie Lynn Reynolds, 20, died after being shot in Liberty Park in Renton on May 23.

Her parents say she was spending time with friends after living in Houston the last year -- she had just been home a week. They also say the family spent countless days together in that same park growing up.

“We’ve done picnics here, so this is devastating at this park,” said her father Kebin Fears. “It’s horrible, no one should have to bury their child.”

They say rumors are swirling, but they know their daughter was just a bystander.

“They said it was a back case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time,” said Fears. “The way the bullets were flying all through here, they said it was amazing there was only one person, and the one person was our daughter. What does that mean?”

While that answer may be hard to come by, they hope a more simple question will be answered soon: who. Police have said there is surveillance video of the park, but they are still searching for a suspect.
