RENTON, Wash. -- Federal drug enforcement teams raided more than a half dozen homes in the Puget Sound region Tuesday and arrested several people in what appears to be a massive drug operation bust.
Agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and other local law enforcement agencies went door-to-door early in the morning, serving several warrants at nearly 10 homes in Snohomish and King counties
Sources say the raid is part of a larger crackdown involving a long-running investigation uncovering an extensive marijuana grow operation connecting the homes.
Federal officials have said in the past that they're seeing more marijuana grown in Washington state as opposed to growing it in British Columbia and sneaking it across the high security border.
They said they often pick nice neighborhoods in order to keep a low profile.
The DEA and Snohomish Regional Drug Task Force Joint Operation are leading the operation, with assistance from several local law enforcement agencies.
