LEWIS COUNTY, Wash. - A New Year's Eve snowstorm caught drivers off-guard south of Olympia.

Snow flurries caused a dozen spinouts on I-5 near Maytown on Monday morning, according to Washington State Patrol Trooper Guy Gill.

"It wouldn't stop. I kept pumping the brakes but it wouldn't stop," said Melissa Alderman, who rear-ended a pickup on Highway 508 near Onalaska.

Alderman and her three sons ended up stuck in a ditch on the side of the highway.

"As long as the boys are ok, I'm OK," she said.

No one was injured.

By noon I-5 was clear of all snow, but it remained on the highways crossing Lewis County into the afternoon..
