SEABECK, Wash. -- U.S. Navy Chief Travis Hauser was hoping for a little rest and relaxation at home with his family after returning from a three-month deployment.
Instead, thieves ruined his homecoming, along with his carpet.
"I thought a buddy of mine was playing tricks on me when I pulled in," Hauser told KING 5 News.
Sometime between December 15 and January 8, someone broke into Hauser's Seabeck home. They stole electronics, valuable and even appliances. They took the refrigerator, the stove and the washer and dryer.
When they pulled the washer out of the wall, the water hose began gushing, flooding the utility room and two nearby bedrooms.
"Being a Navy wife isn't easy," said wife Grace Hauser.
The family is in the process of transferring to a base in South Carolina. Most of their items were packed in boxes, making it easy for the thieves to take off with their valuables.
