What was supposed to be a Boston Marathon viewing party in Olympia has a much more somber tone and has turned into a memorial run.
Organizers at South Sound Running had planned on having their own Super Bowl of sorts with beer and cheering crowds watching a DVD of Monday's marathon race, but they've scaled back the party and were heading out on a run. Nothing too exhausting for the experienced runners - just about 45 minutes - but the runners say the run is about their mental health and being with others.
"We like motion. It's a good way for us to cope and a good way for us to participate in the coping and the healing that needs to take place," said Ben Crabtree, manager at South Sound Running. "
After the run, the runners will come back and watch the DVD of marathon race, but they'll stop it long before the explosions that killed at least three people and injured dozens more.
