Jay Inslee, the Democrats' candidate in this year's governor's race, camped out on the tarmac at Boeing Field Wednesday so he could grab a few minutes with President Obama.

Prior to the presidential motorcade's arrival at the airport, Inslee waited at the foot of the stairs leading up to Air Force One. When the president arrived, Inslee engaged him in a 1-minute conversation, at times holding the presidential arm.

Inslee was the sole greeter at the presidential departure. Shortly afterward, he tweeted:

Just talked with @BarackObama at Boeing Field before he took off in Air Force One. Thanks for visiting! #wagov #teaminslee.

No further details on what the two men discussed.

The president spent the night at a Bellevue hotel after attending two fundraisers on Tuesday evening. He departed Boeing Field Wednesday morning for New Orleans, where he was scheduled to address the National Urban League.

Inslee faces state Attorney General Rob McKenna (R) in the fall election.
