OLYMPIA, Wash. -- A well-respected director from Olympia’s Capital Playhouse faced a Thurston County judge Monday on two felony counts of possession of child pornography.

The judge ordered Troy Fisher to be released while prosecutors continue their investigation. Fisher cannot be around minors for the time being.

Fisher has worked for the theater since the 1980s. Most recently he was the interim artistic director.

The theater produces plays and musicals involving children and adults. The theater’s board has put Fisher on leave this weekend.

“It’s extremely difficult - pretty unreal actually,” said theater board member Kim Wallace.

Wallace said the productions scheduled for the summer will go on as scheduled.

“Of course our top priority is to make sure everyone involved with the playhouse has a safe, secure and positive environment,” said Wallace.

“Although it’s surreal, I have a lot of faith in Troy,” said Suzy Scuderi, whose three children have been involved in productions with Fisher. “I implicitly trust Troy.”

Prosecutors have until Wednesday to decide if they will file charges.
