The body of a newborn baby was found buried in the back yard of a Olympia home, police said Tuesday.
Thurston County Sheriff's Lt. Greg Elwin said the baby girl was born in June and the baby's 16-year-old mother says it was stillborn so she and her boyfriend, also 16, decide to bury the body in the boyfriend's front yard.
Elwin said the girl told a school nurse about it on Tuesday.
Both parents attend River Ridge High School in Lacey.
Elwin said detectives interviewed the couple and they've been released to their parents. They could face a number of charges, including "improper disposal of human remains."
The coroner will investigate.
