An Amtrak train on Saturday struck a pick-up truck in Tenino in Thurston County.
Four people were in the 2004 Ford F-150, which was stopped on the tracks. All four survived the impact, and three were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The four are "Very VERY lucky to be alive!" according to a tweet posted by Washington State Patrol Trooper Guy Gill. A later tweet from Gill said, "The train struck the frontal area of the pick-up...3 feet the other way and we would be dealing with multiple fatalities right now."
The train was traveling at a speed of nearly 80 mph at the time of impact.
The accident happened around 2 p.m. near the 15500 block of McDuff Rd. SE in Tenino.
