The man behind the wheel of a car that hit and killed a teacher from Kent will be charged with vehicular homicide.
Samuel Cruz, 25, was initially charged with vehicular assault in the July 19 crash that left Stacy Ankerfelt, 28, in a coma.
King County prosecutors amended those charges to vehicular homicide following Ankerfelt's death on August 19.
Ankerfelt spent a month in Intensive Care at Harborview Medical Center before finally succumbing to her injuries.
Cruz told police investigators he had taken Subozone, a prescription drug used to treat oxycodone withdrawals, before the crash.
Ankerfelt was leaving her home in Auburn to buy school supplies when she was hit by Cruz's car, according to police.
Ankerfelt taught at Scenic Hill Elementary School in Kent.
