A Kent school bus driver was seriously hurt Monday morning after being hit by another bus.
A Kent School District spokesperson said the driver was getting ready for her shift at 6:40 a.m. when she was struck by a bus driven by another school driver.
"It doesn't matter how safe we were in the past, this morning we weren't,” district spokesperson Chris Loftis said.
School district officials said Hagen has been with the district for 25 years. She was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where she was last listed in serious condition.
The driver of the bus that hit the victim was placed on paid leave pending the investigation. School officials say the female driver has been with the district for six years working as a bus driver and in food services.
Loftis said the district is looking into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
The district says that whenever there is an accident involving a school bus, the driver automatically undergoes a drug and alcohol test. The preliminary investigation found no indication of drugs or alcohol.
