CHIGNIK LAGOON, Alaska -- A 67-year-old Washington man died in a tiny southwest Alaska village when his pickup truck rolled backward and ran over him.

Alaska State Troopers say Don Coffman of Federal Way died Wednesday.

Investigators say Coffman had been driving the pickup but stopped on a slight hill and got out, leaving the pickup running in neutral.

The truck rolled backward and Coffman tried to get in to stop it.

Troopers say the pickup gained speed, dragging Coffman about 10 feet. He fell and the truck's front tires ran over him.

Coffman died at the scene.

Chignik Lagoon is a village of 78 on the south shore of the Alaska Peninsula about 450 miles southwest of Anchorage.
