A man Federal Way Police were searching for in connection with two fatal shootings has been arrested in Kennewick.

Bernard Bellerouche was arrested on Saturday and taken into custody without incident, police say.

Bellerouche is suspected in the May 7 fatal shooting of Demario Washington, 27, in the parking lot of the Silver Shadow Apartments in Federal Way.

Bellerouche is also a suspect in the fatal shooting of George Gabriel Jr, a 22-year-old Marine who was with his wife in a car at Mariposa Apartments in Federal Way when he was shot.

Detectives do not believe Bellerouche held the gun the night, but they suspect he will lead them to whomever did.

“You almost sort of lost your breath," George Gabriel Sr said.

Gabriel learned of his son "Junior's" death when the US Marine Corps visited his home in Florida.

He flew to Washington to bury his son on Friday, the beginning of Memorial Day weekend.

“In the moment you have to scream and say, ‘God, why?’” said Junior's cousin, Rosa Reyes.

Junior's family hopes Bellerouche's arrest will bring the answers to two questions they've asked since May 13: who and why?

"It is a great relief but it’s not totally a relief because we don’t have answers,” Gabriel said. “I think I lost half of my strength in the first place. The other half I tried to grab onto something.”

Police said Bellerouche would be booked into the Benton County Jail.
