Southbound I-5 in Federal Way to close overnight Friday

Crews installed steel girders over southbound I-5 the nights of Feb. 10-11, 2012. The girders will support new flyover ramps at the I-5/SR 18 interchange.

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- All lanes of southbound I-5 at SR 18 in Federal Way will be closed overnight Friday as WSDOT crews install bridge girders.

Southbound I-5 will begin closing starting 9 p.m. Friday, with all lanes closing at 11 p.m. The southbound lanes will reopen 7 a.m. Saturday. Drivers will follow a signed detour during the closure.

Several ramps in the area will also be closed during that time:

  • Westbound SR 18 off-ramp to southbound I-5
  • Eastbound SR 18 off-ramp to northbound I-5
  • Southbound I-5 off-ramp to eastbound SR 18
  • Northbound I-5 off-ramp to westbound SR 18
