FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Police caught in a struggle with a suspect Tuesday morning shot him in the leg.

It happened around 3:15 a.m. in the 31700 block of 50th Lane SW near Dash Point State Park.

Police say officers were responding to a domestic violence call. During the investigation, one officer was charged by the suspect and a struggle ensued. At least one officer fired at the suspect, hitting him in the leg.

The suspect was taken to the hospital. There was no immediate word if any officers were hurt.

Typically in cases of an officer involved shooting, the officer is placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation. The investigation is usually conducted by an outside police agency.
