FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- King County prosecutors have filed a first-degree murder charge against a Federal Way, Wash., man accused of stabbing his girlfriend more than 100 times.
Prosecutor's spokesman Dan Donohoe said Wednesday the 29-year-old remains jailed on $2 million bail. Arraignment was set for July 24. KING 5 News typically does not name suspects until they have been formally charged.
In charging papers, detectives say the suspect suffered little more than scratches when 20-year-old Melinda O'Meara was killed in a July 6 dispute at the couple's mobile home.
Several knives, a barbecue spatula with serrated edges and a broken knife handle were found next to her body.
The suspect gave officers conflicting accounts of what happened.
