A man barricaded himself in a Federal Way apartment for a few hours Tuesday before being arrested.
He was reportedly engaged in a physical assault at the Heritage Condos near 123 South 340th Place Tuesday morning.
When police and Valley SWAT were called at 8:40 a.m., the suspect retreated into an apartment. He was arrested before 2:00 p.m.
Federal Way Police said the man was wanted for Felony Arson in Pierce County. Officers said he also had previous threatening encounters with police.
Neighbors were evacuated from their apartments. Here is a tweet we received from witness Megan Barry, close to the scene:
@KING5Seattle Gunshots have been fired. The stand off has lasted for almost four hours. I'm in the building across the street.— Megan Barry (@meganbarry) July 17, 2012
Gunshots by either the suspect or police have not been confirmed by officers yet. However, Barry also posted a video from the scene in which shots of some kind can be heard.
