SEATTLE – Elizabeth Drake is losing the election for a seat on the Federal Way School Board.

If you ask Drake, she’s perfectly happy with that.

The News Tribune reports Drake doesn’t want the job anymore. In fact, she announced last month she was dropping out of the race after being appointed interim principal at Thomas Jefferson High School. That was too late to get her name off the ballot or voters pamphlet.

Danny Peterson has a 327 point lead following the latest returns Tuesday, but just a few days ago, Drake was in the lead. Track the latest results here

Drake can resign if she wins. The board would then have to open the seat to the public for an appointment. But with how close the race is, there is concern an automatic recount may be triggered, which will draw out the process.
