Everett has earned a reputation and a rough and tumble hockey town, but also one with a big, compassionate heart.

On December 7, those two traits will be in full effect as the Everett Silvertips host their 4th annual Snohomish County Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation Fundraiser. The game is against rival Seattle.

“It’ll be a good game and it’s for a great cause,” said Officer Aaron Snell of the Everett Police Department.

In 2009, a fund was created for the sole purpose of providing immediate financial assistance to the surviving spouse and children of any officer in Snohomish County killed in the line of duty. The fund operates on a donation and fund raising basis only.

“We need to be there for our law enforcement officers in their time of need,” said Snell.

Over the past three seasons, the Silvertips have raised an average of $2,500 on each Law Enforcement Appreciation Night. They’re hoping to top $3,000 this year.
