Four cars derailed from a freight train near Everett Friday morning, disrupting commuter train service.
A Burlington Northern Santa Fe spokesperson said the train left Everett for Vancouver, Wash. It was hauling 65 cars, 13 of which were empty. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
The four cars derailed slightly off the tracks and remained upright. Nothing was spilled.
Sound Transit announced Northline Sounder commuter train service would be canceled Friday. A spokesman said there would be no additional bus service to compensate because it was not expected to be a big day for ridership. The Southline train between Lakewood and Seattle was not affected.
Amtrak was warning passengers that the Cascades train between Seattle and Vancouver, B.C. would experience delays due to the derailment.
BNSF said train service should resume late Friday.
