Boeing announced its newest airplane, the 787-10, at the Paris Air show on Tuesday.

The jet is the most efficient in history.

"The 787-10 is 25 percent more efficient than airplanes of its size today and more than 10 percent better than anything being offered by the competition for the future," said Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Ray Conner.

Five customers across Europe, Asia and North America have committed to 102 airplanes. United Airlines is committed to 20 airplanes, with other top commitments coming from Singapore Airlines (30) and Air Lease Corporation (30).

Emirates President and CEO Tim Clark said the new version of the Dreamliner may not have the capacity to meet its fleet requirements.

The new 787-10 will fly up to 7,000 nautical miles with seating for 300 to 330 passengers.

The second member of the 787 family, the 787-9, is in final assembly in Everett and will make its first flight later this year.
