Two firefighters were injured Monday fighting a three-alarm fire at a house in Silverdale.

The fire started around 6:55 a.m. at a home on the 7000 block of Northwest Dabob Lane.

A Navy Region Northwest firefighter was injured when part of a ceiling fell on him. He was transported to Harrison Hospital in Bremerton with non life-threatening injuries.

A Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue firefighter also sustained a minor burn to his arm and was treated at the scene.

It was a neighbor who first spotted smoke and flames coming from the back of the home. He told the homeowners, who got out of the house safely, and then called 911.

Based what he saw, firefighters believe the fire started in a wooden bee hive behind the garage. It spread from there to the attic, which extends the entire length of the house.

The fire is not considered suspicious.

KING 5's Lindsay Chamberlain compiled information for this report.
