Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a shooting involving a Bremerton police officer who was responding to an armed robbery call Saturday morning.

Bremerton Police were dispatched to the Taco Bell restaurant in the 4200 block of Wheaton way for a reported robbery with a firearm.

An officer responding to the robbery stopped a vehicle south of that location (Almira & Spruce) at 3:41 a.m. During the course of that traffic stop the officer fired multiple rounds at the driver, who was standing outside of the vehicle.  The officer was not injured.

The suspect ran southbound toward Sylvan Way. A Bremerton Police K-9 conducted a track of the suspect but didn't find anyone.

The Kitsap County Sheriff's Office is conducting the investigation of the officer-involved shooting.

The Bremerton Police Department is investigating the armed robbery.

The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings.

Anyone with any information regarding the armed robbery is asked to call Bremerton Police at (360) 473-5228.
