A body believed to be that of a 59-year-old missing diver from Central Kitsap was located in Puget Sound Monday evening, one day after the man was last seen.
A dive partner last saw Gerard Martin Hall around 11:50 a.m. Sunday while boating and diving off Blake Island. The dive partner said Hall surfaced, yelled for help, and then slipped under the water before he could reach him.
U.S. Navy divers assisted Kitsap County crews in the search for Hall. The initial search on Sunday was suspended due to conditions. When it resumed Monday evening, the body was found in 34-foot deep water.
Hall was described as an experienced diver.
The Kitsap County Coroner will confirm the identity of the body and conduct an autopsy.
All diving equipment will be checked over for malfunctions.
