BREMERTON, Wash. -- The third grader shot in a Bremerton classroom is smiling. A group of Girl Scouts just made sure what she went through is never forgotten.

On Tuesday, Bremerton Girl Scout troop "The Daisies" planted a tree to honor Amina Bowman's recovery and strength.

Amina nearly died after getting shot in February while at school.

Her father said Amina and her entire family appreciate the continued support from the community.

Amina's father said she's doing better, but still has a long recovery ahead of her. He said events like the one Tuesday helps.
