Water is now running in the Mason County town of Belfair, but residents are still asked to boil their water for the time being.
Construction crews hit an 8-inch water main Tuesday, causing a water outage for about 2,000 people.
A Belfair Water District 1 crews replaced 15 feet of the pipe and had water service restored by Wednesday afternoon.
But state health officials said residents still need to boil water used for cooking, brushing teeth or washing dishes until the water can be tested for potentially harmful bacteria.
