It's cold and getting colder in Western Washington. Temperatures hit the teens and 20s overnight Friday. Afternoon highs Saturday only reached the upper 20s to low 30s.

Sea-Tac reported a low in the teens for the first time since Feb. 26 2011.

And the air is bone dry, with dew points in the single digits above and below zero.

Saturday night is expected to be the coldest night of the stretch of much below normal temperatures. Widespread lows in the teens are expected and a few locations could drop into the single digits.

By Monday a shift begins as a weather system will begin to approach from the southwest.

Temperatures will begin to warm higher in the atmosphere but remain cold at the surface, said KING 5 Meteorologist Mary Lee.

"It looks like precipitation will begin to move in Monday and Tuesday.  It could begin as snow or freezing rain in places," she said.
