A suspected drunk driver drove the wrong way down two Seattle freeways early Tuesday, police said, hitting a state trooper's car head-on.
Troopers caught up to the 26-year-old suspect when his car died while going north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5.
Minutes earlier, he was suspected of hitting Trooper Andrew Boyer's Washington State Patrol squad car while going west in the eastbound lanes of 520.
Boyer said he saw the suspect as he continued down the freeway.
"I looked over at the driver as he was driving right past my driver's side window, and he just pretty much had a blank look on his face," said Trooper Boyer. "He just continued looking forward and drove past."
After making his way onto I-5, troopers said the suspect's car died near 45th Street. He then ran from his car and fell down a 20-foot embankment before he was arrested, police said.
Troopers believe the he was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
Trooper Boyer continued his shift despite the collision.
