BELLEVUE, Wash. -- Bellevue police have issued a sketch of the man who raped a woman at knifepoint at her workplace Tuesday night.
Police said the suspect had a scheduled massage at a massage therapy office in the 15200 block of NE 20th Street. The massage therapist said during the session, the man started making sexual advances toward her. When she refused his advances, he grew angry, threatened her with a pocket knife and sexually assaulted her.
The victim said she recognized the suspect as a previous client who had been there before, but did not know his identity.
"It's unbelievable this would happen here," said Lem Putnam, who works next door at Computer Troubleshooters. "This is the last place you would think something like this was possible."
Putnam said the victim is a married woman who had her office there less than a year. Putnam said she often worked evenings, but it was a place where everyone trusted each other.
"It's very disturbing. We should not have to worry about something like this," he said.
Police describe the suspect as a white male in his mid 40s, around 6'1" with black hair and a muscular build. Police said he was professionally dressed and wore black pants and a white shirt.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or Bellevue Police Department Detective Bob Thompson at 425-452-4871.
